Travel documents

On a domestic departure

Keep your ticket until the end of the journey: you show it when boarding and to anyone entitled to check it. Bring an identity document too, especially if the ticket is in your name.

On an international departure

  • A passport valid for the whole journey — children too, each with their own.
  • A visa, if the destination country requires one. Citizens of the Republic of Moldova with a biometric passport travel visa-free in the Schengen area for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
  • The documents required for a minor travelling without both parents.

Entry rules change. Before you leave, check the destination country's requirements with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the exit rules with the Border Police.

At customs

Cash of 10,000 euros or more, or its equivalent in another currency, must be declared in writing at customs, per person. The declaration can also be filed online, before you reach the border.

The rules for goods, medicines and food are published by the Customs Service.
